Autumn is one of the best seasons for getting around by scooter: the air is cool, journeys remain enjoyable, and cycle paths are less busy once summer is over. To keep riding with confidence after the warmer months, a few factors deserve particular attention, especially grip, water resistance and battery performance.

1. Grip and braking
On wet roads, braking distances increase and certain surfaces can become particularly slippery, including fallen leaves, road markings and metal plates. The scooter’s handling depends on several key factors, including tire tread and rubber compound, wheel diameter and the braking system.

Larger wheels help absorb bumps and bumpy surfaces more effectively, while a dual braking system helps distribute braking force and maintain a stable trajectory. With its 8.5-inch Gravel tires at the rear and 12-inch tires at the front, the T9 offers a good balance of stability, grip and riding comfort.

The T9 is also equipped with two connected brakes, one at the front and one at the rear, for precise and controlled braking. At the rear, the hydraulic brake features an energy recovery system that makes use of some of the energy generated during braking and helps recharge the battery.

On their side, riders should simply adapt their riding style to the conditions by braking progressively, avoiding sudden changes of direction on wet surfaces and anticipating areas that may be slippery.

2. Water resistance
The IP rating indicates the level of protection an item of equipment provides against dust and water. For an electric scooter, this applies in particular to the motor, battery and various electrical connections, all of which are essential to its long-term reliability.

The T9 has an IPX6 rating, which means it can be used in the rain. However, riding through puddles is not recommended. After each ride, it is advisable to wipe the scooter down with a cloth to dry it thoroughly before folding it and storing it upright in a dry place.

3. Battery and temperature
Lithium-ion cells are sensitive to temperature changes. As temperatures drop, their available capacity may decrease slightly, resulting in somewhat less range than in summer. This is completely normal and easy to anticipate.

A few simple habits can help maintain battery performance: charge and store the scooter indoors at room temperature and start each journey with a sufficiently charged battery. In cold weather, the T9 should never be charged at temperatures below 0°C. After riding in cold conditions, it is also best to wait until the battery has returned to a suitable temperature before charging it.

Particular attention should also be paid to the USB-C port, which must be completely dry before connecting the T9, especially after riding in the rain. For daily journeys of a few kilometers, these precautions help maintain a comfortable range buffer.

Why electric scooters still make sense in the city
Autumn weather has little impact on the reasons people choose an electric scooter: no traffic jams, no searching for a parking space and no waiting around. When it rains, traffic becomes heavier and public transport gets more crowded, which is precisely when the time savings become most noticeable.

The right equipment is all that is needed to complement your outfit: a waterproof jacket, lightweight rain gear and gloves (which we recommend wearing for your safety even in the middle of summer). This means you can continue enjoying your autumn journeys in comfort and with peace of mind.

The takeaway
Grip, water resistance and battery performance are the three key factors to keep in mind when riding in autumn. The T9 is designed to accompany riders throughout the seasons and fit seamlessly into everyday journeys, whatever the time of year. The change of season is also the perfect time to have your scooter checked by one of our dealers or your usual specialist. Our team is also always available by email, phone or WhatsApp to answer any questions you may have.
